Ramesh Babu Praggnanandhaa, famously known as Praggnanandhaa, is a world-famous Indian Chess Grandmaster. The world of chess revolves around intellect and wit, Praggnanandhaa can be called the embodiment of strategic intellect, and sharp wittiness. Coming from Chennai, this genius prodigy was born in 2005 and has created a niche in the Chess World.
Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa and his elder sister R Vaishali are currently the only brother-sister duo to earn the Chess Grandmaster title.

Parents Of the Chess Prodigy
Praggnanandhaa has achieved immeasurable success in a very short amount of time, and while this goes to his genius and intellect, his parents play an important role in the child’s success.
Rameshbabu is a branch manager of TNSC, and Praggnanandhaa’s mom is a homemaker.
Young Rameshbabu suffered from polio which made him disabled. However, his persistence, and determination which is carried in Praggnanandhaa, helped him recover, and pursue education to the point of becoming a branch manager.
While the father remained invested in financial responsibilities, the mother remained by the prodigy’s side in his chess tournaments and made sure that her child was properly supported, motivated, and rested for his next match.
Nagalakshmi took Pragganandhaa to all his matches and proudly looked after her son. Whether it was a win or a loss, Nagalaskhmi was there to comfort and cheer for his son. She has contributed immensely to her son’s achievements.
Praggnanandhaa’s father Ramesh Babu has said that the credit for their son’s achievements goes to his mother. Who has endlessly attended all his matches, and taken great care of the two children.

2013: The Origin
It was his elder sister who introduced Praggnandhaa to the world of chess when he was just three years old. Vaishali's influence and guidance played a crucial role in nurturing Praggnanandhaa's interest and talent in chess.
Praggnandhaa was only eight years old when he took home the title of FIDE Master (Fédération Internationale des Échecs - World Chess Federation) The third-highest title in the chess federation. This title is earned by a recognized chess player after having competed and won a credible number of points in recognized championships like the World Youth Championship, Olympiad, Commonwealth, or Continental Championship.
Later on in 2015, at the age of 10, young Praggnanandhaa won the FIDE under 10 age category title.
The Youngest International Master - 2016
At the age of 11, when kids spend their time watching TV and playing with their friends, this prodigy won the Youngest International Master, the second-highest title in chess literature, successfully defeating a world Grandmaster at the KIIT International Festival.
The World Junior Class Championship 2017
Played in Tarvisio, Italy, The World Junior Class Championship of 2017 allowed Praggnanandhaa to earn his first grandmaster title, coming third place in the tournament.
Praggnanandhaa made his nation proud of his immense achievement, success, and talent. The Grandmaster is the highest title in the Chess Federation, and Young Praggnanandhaa had worked tirelessly for this position.
Norway Chess Tournament 2024
Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa continued to showcase his talent to the world. This prodigy has now recently competed in the Norway Chess Tournament. The Strongest Chess tournament is now in its 12th edition.
This was Praggnanandhaa's debut in the tournament, and he held a swooping and impressive third place, competing and beating the top 3 world chess players, in the world’s strongest chess tournament.
He was able to secure a commendable 3rd position.
